FULL-TIME PROJECT WORKER (**APPLY ON THE WEBSITE** HOURS PER WEEK)
The School Completion Programme (SCP) is a Department of Education and
Skills initiative under the DEIS Strategy ? Delivering Equality of
Opportunity in Schools. SCP is now funded by Tusla, the Child and
Family Agency, and delivers interventions to both primary and post
primary children and young people who have been identified as
potentially at risk of early school leaving.
Tullow Area SCP is based in Tullow with a cluster of eight schools, 7
Primary and 1 Post Primary.
We wish to recruit a full-time project worker starting in

THE POSITION
The Project Worker will work alongside the Local Coordinator in
implementing the retention plan locally, as follows:
* To provide behavioural and emotional support to select participants
on a small group or one-to-one basis, supporting solution-focused
outcomes.
* The organisation and facilitation of personal development
programmes for children and young people as required.
* To liaise with school personnel, external agencies and
families/guardians as required.
* To assist in the planning, development and evaluation of TASCP.
* To attend meetings and participate in staff training where
relevant.
* Any other duties as required by the Local Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will have:
_QUALIFICATIONS:_
* A relevant third level qualification in youth or community work,
social care, education, or a related discipline.
_EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:_
* Minimum of two years post graduate paid work in provision of
services for children/young people and families at risk.
* Experience of facilitating evidence-based/informed programmes for
referrals and families.
* Practical experience of working collaboratively with other support
agencies.
* A thorough knowledge of the Irish Education system and factors
associated with educational disadvantage and social exclusion.
* An understanding of the role of the School Completion Programme
within the Tusla Education Support Service.
* Knowledge and awareness of child protection policy and practice as
per TUSLA Guidelines.
* Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with
vulnerable children, young people and parents/guardians.

young people.
* Good ICT and report writing skills.
OTHER
* Garda vetting will apply.
* Full, clean driving license and own transport.
SALARY
Pro rata in line with CYDSB Youth Work salary scale (New entrant).
